Foto Story Friday #149– crash test Cody

So, we had a few nice days and all the kids were feeling like they needed some fresh air. Cody really wanted to get out and do a bit a blading. I really didn’t think it was a good idea because the streets are covered in dirt from sanding. He’s a teenager and well they always know best, right?! So he went out and got to racing cars down the street.

10 mins of roller-blading down the street as fast as he could, resulted in a split second touch of feet and a meeting of the pavement.  He calmly came in the house changed out of his jeans and came up stairs to let me know that he had a little crash.  Knees bleeding, he hobbles up the stairs to the bathroom and rinses off.

Poor kid not only ripped his only good jeans, but he did a fair job shredding his knees too!  Then I come in to see what else needs doing….. like more scrubbing and some hydrogen peroxide.  Had to call my in-laws and see if they happened to have any more med supplies as I used up all my peroxide and only had 1 big bandage.  They came with a grocery bag bulging with supplies.  Grandma was also tough enough to do the necessary scrubbing.

Cody has mean parents, they made him go to school every day and wouldn’t let him skip even once….. poor kid had to walk up and down all those stairs in the school…. and he didn’t even die!

After a few days the knees started scabbing up and he started feeling better.

More than a week later, they are nice and scabbed up and he is walking much better!

  1. Aunt Claudia says:

Ewww – it’s worse than we originally thought…yikes! I’m surprised this didn’t deserve a day or two off school. Uncle Byron says he looks pretty pitiful! (((hugs)))

  2. debi9kids says:

Oh holy cow! That looks awful!

  3. Melissa says:

OUCH!!! I would have made mine go to school too! 🙂

  4. Chris says:

    Just ow.

I’m proud of you for making him go to school (of course, I would have felt differently 20 years ago…) It builds character 🙂
